Recently, my husband and I revamped our budget and spending routine and now use the "envelope system." Don't worry, this isn't a financing blog, so I'm not going into extreme detail. No matter what budgeting system you use, I recommend creating a "home" envelope. This can be tangible or online. Each month, stick a little bit of money in this envelope so you can save up for your next project. DON'T start the project until you have the money for it. Patience, my friend. With this economy, I know this is everyone's soapbox at the moment, but it's also just wise spending. Good economy or bad economy, I vow to do projects only when I have the cash to do so.
We have a budget but I am not so good at the waiting on a project....once I get the notion, I can't stop!! Trying to be better....
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. the trick is to be saving up the money so that when you DO get the notion, you already have the money for it. We'll work on it together.
