Cash Only, Please

Before we get this show on the road, I want to make something clear. I don't expect, nor do I recommend, for you to go into debt making your home beautiful. To me, it's not worth it if you have to say "Well, I maxed out my credit card, but my home looks gorgeous!"

Recently, my husband and I revamped our budget and spending routine and now use the "envelope system." Don't worry, this isn't a financing blog, so I'm not going into extreme detail. No matter what budgeting system you use, I recommend creating a "home" envelope. This can be  tangible or online. Each month, stick a little bit of money in this envelope so you can save up for your next project. DON'T start the project until you have the money for it. Patience, my friend. With this economy, I know this is everyone's soapbox at the moment, but it's also just wise spending. Good economy or bad economy, I vow to do projects only when I have the cash to do so.

My First Blog

Greetings! This is my first public step into the blogging world. My name's DeLyn. I'm currently a  stay-at-home mom with two young children. Home is where I work. Home is where I play. Home is where I relax. Home is where I grow. Needless to say, keeping my home inviting and well-maintained is important to my everyday life and my sanity.

This blog will not only invite you into my home but hopefully inspire you to spruce up your own. We'll explore decorating ideas and ways to make the most of every room in the house. We'll host holiday parties and perhaps even tackle minor home improvements and upgrades. We'll be in the market for budget-friendly items as well as over-the-top, lavish embellishments. I invite you to ask questions, pass on tips, and request projects or ideas. I can't guarantee everything will turn out perfectly, but we'll have fun.
